This is purely just a personal thought and is not for any purpose AT ALL.
I was on my way home from school today and I noticed that the barber near my house was not there any more.
Thinking back to the time when i was WAAAAAAY younger, i always sat outside this traditional barber shop, waiting for my once-a-month haircut. If you ever wondered why i had a funny bowlcut with ultra super high slope last time, now you know why.
Time had INDEED changed our world. Even when the barber was still there, i don't really see many customers other than the regular few, the older people who knows him from like way longer than before i was born? These people includes my grandfather, who lived his life and went on to another world already.
Okay back to what i was talking about. Nowadays, we do not really see much of an existence of traditional barbers anymore do we? They are all replaced by those 'professional hair stylist' at the $10 for a 10 minutes haircut places found all around Singapore in corners of shopping malls and small little shops on the streets.
Thats something that is really sad. Many foreign behaviors had gotten into our everyday lives. Think of 'bubbletea'. When it first came to Singapore, it was a hit and the queues are always long with many people, including old aunties and uncles joining in the fun. Soon after, the shops started opening one after another, and now Singapore is flooded with 'non-biodegradable plactic cups'.
Its not that I am against the norm or anything but i do feel that time had really changed alot. Even i had subjected to the change and lived with it. Just feel quite sad for the uncle who knows me since young and still give me a neat slopish haircut at a discounted price even after i entered sec 1, and he does know it. (FYI, he gives discounted price for kids up to the age of 10 only) Now i just go to some other random place for my haircut.
What else had time do to us? Technology had advanced so quickly that I could easily post this blog post the moment i type it out. I could also read newspaper articles on the go, using my handy dandy ipod touch. Not only that, now we can also put a phone, a camera, a calulator, a gaming device, a clock, an alarm clock, a stopwatch, a video player, a picture viewer, a storage space, an mp3 player and even a radio all into the size of something smaller than our wallets(not the price of course!).
This bullshit that i posted is really nothing important but i feel that if our oral conversation topic ever gives us a question about the 'changing times', i am sure my bullshit will come in handy.
Now if you will excuse me I have a call coming in and I have to check for mail on my iPod.
